Homes can take on a number of shapes, from starter homes for those first-time buyers, smaller lock-up type units used by seniors who need to downsize to large luxurious homes that are meant to be home forever. Regardless of the type of home you may build and own, home is truly meant to be a place where you can raise your family, give favor to your grandbabies and can enjoy growing old together. With that said, the team here at Construct-All USA, Inc. wants to take this time to share a number of design features you may want to consider when it comes time for you to decide on your home design.

If you are in the beginning stages of designing your new home, or even making renovations or remodeling additions to your existing home, the team here at Construct-All USA wants to take this time to share with each of you some important considerations you should give focus to.

  • · Give thought to not only your current needs but your future needs as well – When designing your new home or deciding upon major additions or renovations you will be performing to your existing home, be sure to give some serious thought to the years ahead. Are the renovations you are wanting to make now going to be of value to you perhaps 10 or 20 years down the road? If you are thinking of including multiple bedrooms in your new home design ask yourself if, down the road, those bedrooms can be utilized in another capacity that will serve you better in your later years. Bedrooms can certainly be converted into a home office and multiple bedrooms converted into perhaps an in-law apartment if needed. In addition, it is important to give focus to the hallways and stairs in your home as well. Keep in mind that wider hallways in any home not only are more practical for multiple children, but in later years they can be quite beneficial as family members grow older.
  • · Be smart and choose fixtures and hardware that are easy to use – Though you may make a variety of enhancements and changes to your home over the years, certain fixtures and hardware can be beneficial to individuals of all ages and throughout various stages of life. Some door handles are easier to use for both kids and elder parents alike, while certain types of faucets and even drawer hardware prove to be more practical as well. It may be a good idea to opt for at least one walk-in shower in your home rather than having all tub/shower combinations.
  • · Classic design will always outlive trendy – Think back to yesteryear when you visited your grandparents’ home with all that wallpaper and paneling? Certainly, it was the trend back in those times but not something most of us want to look at today. With that thought in mind, stick to classic design and décor for your new home or your new renovations and additions.
  • · Be sure your first floor is a more than livable space for all – When planning your home design for your forever home where you plan to live happily and grow old, be sure to include a bedroom and bathroom on the main floor. In your elder years, it can be quite difficult to navigate any stairs you may have from upper floors downward, and having a livable,

properly designed space, on your main floor will certainly come in handy in your later years.
